Selective skill based recruitment for two Regional Aftersales Business Managers – Europe

The opportunity to recruit two candidates to add to a highly successful European team, presented a positive challenge testing Southgate Consulting’s technical knowledge within the automotive sector and delivery timescale.

The requirement for two Aftersales Business Managers covering UK and Europe, meant that there was a pressing need to fill these positions complementing the previous success we had in securing suitable Regional Sales Managers for this client. The selected candidates would have to be able to cover the UK and Northern Europe, meaning that location and flexibility regarding time away from home would play a part in the selection of any suitably qualified candidate being shortlisted.

With a strong relationship already built up with this particular luxury car brand client, we were able to directly target a potential list of names with a solid understanding aftersales best practice, regional management expertise and the correct cultural fit for the company. Given a two week window to screen all candidates and present them to the client, Southgate Consulting managed to identify and shortlist within the agreed timescale.

Negotiation and confidentiality

After all interviews had been completed, the client received a summary on each candidate, including skills, strengths and limitations for the role in question. Once the shortlist had been compiled and candidate interviews commenced and completed (ensuring shortlisted candidates were scheduled and accommodated around other work commitments), the two successful candidates were then contacted and Southgate Consulting helped the client through to final negotiations on job offer completion. Additionally, each regretted candidate was given the opportunity to talk through where they could strengthen their profile for their next interview.

At each stage of the process, the client was very vocal about the quality of candidate shortlist presented to them, and was delighted to move forward with an offer to the final two candidates.
